Before There Was Glee

Way before the TV show Glee was even a twinkle in it's creator's eye, Mormon children were breaking into song during school! Are Mormons trendsetters?

  1. We might be trendsetters in the musical department, but I don't know about the clothing in that video, lol.

  2. First of all, adorable. Second, just how jealous am I of that teacher's impossibly tiny waist?!

  3. I remember that song! It was on an album that my kids used to play all the time. My inactive mother called it "Mormon propaganda" -- but secretly she loved it!

  5. My brothers and sister and I had a routine to that song, complete with barbershop hats and canes. We even performed it at our elementary school! Sadly, no video.

  12. I love the Mormon Messages the Church has up now, but man, nothing beats vintage. Where did you dig this up? Do you have others?

  13. I'm new to this website, too.

totally classic...I love the barbershop part. I mean, where did that kid get his hat? Did he just show up to school with it? I'm guessing he stowed it away just in case. ;)

    great find.

What a blessing to know that the Son of God gave himself a ransom for us all!

I hope that you are both enjoying the Light of the Son today and always.

  15. LOVE IT. We Mormons have always been ahead of our time. I wish that Glee was so innocent, so then I wouldn't feel so guilty watching it.

  16. Ha Ha! That just brought back some memories - I remember learning that song and singing it for a church talent show or something - complete with a large cheese wink after the "not even sometimes" line. :)

Just found your blog and am enjoying reading it. Thanks!
